The best lead magnet isn't a giveaway.

It's ACTUALLY a quiz/assessment.

Most giveaway posts on social media simply game the system - they ask for your engagement, so they can get your email in exchange for an asset (that's 100% AI-generated).

While these giveaways might generate a lot of engagement (and email subscribers), there's a lot to be desired when it comes to conversions because everyone who has commented gets the same asset.

A better approach is to do a quiz/assessment-type lead magnet because:

  • You get a deeper understanding of your prospects' pain

  • You get to qualify them before you link them to your booking page

  • You share unique content with each person, depending on the results of their quiz

This makes the lead magnet itself 10x more valuable than your average LinkedIn giveaway.

That’s good and all, but how do you actually build one?

Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Step 1: List every problem you solve (literally every problem)

Get specific.

The more problems you list, the better your quiz will segment.

Step 2: Group problems into 3-4 categories

Once you have the list, you’ll be able to find patterns, so you can group problems together in a few categories.

For example: Messaging problems, positioning problems, traffic problems, etc.

You’ll use these categories to score the participants.

Step 3: Create questions for each of the categories

The entire quiz should be less than 5 minutes, so dedicate 1-3 questions per category.

We don’t want to overwhelm your audience.

Step 4: Figure out the logic of the quiz

This means that each participant, based on their answers, should be part of a category around the problem you’re solving.

If you have good positioning, this means you can name each situation a customer is in as a separate category, but make sure you keep it simple - you need 2-4 categories max.

Step 5: Build custom content (Thank You Page and PDF Report) for each result

Make sure the Thank You Page and PDF Reports are slightly different for each results category.

If someone’s not a fit for your product or service, send them free resources.

If someone’s a good fit, link them to your main CTA (Book a Call/Demo)

That way, you're not wasting their time with irrelevant advice.

What tools do you need to build all of this?

  • Scoreapp for the quiz (the landing page, the questions, the Thank You Page, and the PDF report)

  • Zapier to connect it with your email provider.

  • Bonus: Clay, if you want to have a sheet that has all of the participants’ emails, the categories they are in, and how they scored in each category.

It’s hard, but 1000% worth it.
