If you’re using organic content to grow your list, you need a lead magnet.

“Subscribe to my newsletter” simply won’t work as a CTA.

You need a great opt-in offer that your target audience responds to.

Most of the founders I talk to agree with this, yet they are not sure what type of lead magnet to create.

Here are a few options:

  • An educational email course - this works well if you have a coaching/community offer on the back end because it ties in well.

  • An assessment/quiz - this works well if you’re doing consulting/offering high-ticket services and you want to segment the prospects.

  • A checklist - this works well if you have a services offering because you can solve a very narrow problem that ties well to your solution.

  • A complete guide - this works well if you have a very sophisticated audience that needs a lot of information (that’s why a lot of enterprise companies share original reports).

All of these would work - you just need to figure out which one has the best content market fit for your audience and launch it.
